UK bank holidays

England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland dates are stored from the GOV.UK bank holiday dataset. Each holiday we show includes a source link and the date we last checked it. Parliament or the relevant government can still change a date, add a one-off holiday, or alter a substitute day. Confirm operational closures on GOV.UK bank holidays before you plan leave, payroll or travel.

Gregorian dates and week numbers

The engine uses the Gregorian leap-year rule and ISO 8601 week numbers (week 1 is the week containing 4 January; weeks start on Monday). A Sunday-start print layout does not change the ISO week number. 1 January can fall in week 52 or 53 of the previous ISO year.

Chinese and lunar calendars

Chinese and lunar pages use a civil lunisolar conversion for 1900–2100 based on packed month lengths derived from Hong Kong Observatory civil data. Local almanacs, temple calendars and some time zones can differ by a day, especially around a new moon or a leap month. This is not a religious authority.

Islamic (Hijri) calendar

Islamic pages use the tabulated civil “Kuwaiti” algorithm. Communities that start months by moon sighting often observe Ramadan or Eid a day earlier or later. Treat religious dates as approximate and confirm locally.

Other calendar types

Academic, family and business pages are layout and copy hubs on the Gregorian calendar. They are not official term dates for any school, employer or university.

Tools and downloads

Date calculators, PDFs, PNG images and iCalendar files are helpers only. Working-day counts skip weekends and, if you ask, stored England and Wales bank holidays — they do not know your company’s own closures.
